10 Events to Attend This Labor Day Weekend

This Labor Day weekend, give summer a proper send off! There are a endless opportunities for fun, so be sure to make the most of it! Here are a few of our favorite events happening around town this weekend.

Colorado’s State Fair

When: August 24th – September 3rd
Where: Colorado Stats Fairgrounds

Americans love a good state fair, and after 149 years of practice, Colorado’s got it down. So much of what there is to love about the state converges onto the famous fairgrounds in Pueblo for an end-of-summer week full of live entertainment, thrilling competitions, quirky vendor booths, and good ol’ Western fun.

Clyfford Still Museum Free Day

When: August 31st
Where: Clyfford Still Museum

At the Clyfford Still Museum you’ll enjoy nine beautiful galleries of Clyfford Still’s art, historic photos and letters from the Clyfford Still Archives, an interactive timeline, dozens of videos and books, a pair of tranquil outdoor terraces, views into their storage and conservation areas, and shopping!

Rocky Mountain Showdown

When: August 31st
Where: Mile High Stadium

CSU’s football team will face the University of Colorado in the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown on Friday in Denver. Colorado State University opened its season at home Saturday, losing 43-34 to Hawaii in a Mountain West game. This will be the season opener for CU, which went 5-7 overall and 2-7 in the Pacific-12 Conference last season.

Where: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

Phish fans from far and wide are journeying to Denver for Phish’s seventh consecutive Labor Day run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. With the exception of 2016, Phish has played a special set at Dick’s annually, using the first letters of the songs they played as a theme or to spell out phrases. Those shows have all stood out for their unpredictability and frequent bust-outs, turning Phish’s three-night Dick’s run into a must-see event for most Phish fans.

Taste of Colorado

When: September 1st – 3rd
Where: Civic Center Park

Mark your calendars for the launch of an exciting new A Taste of Colorado! With a larger main stage, bigger national entertainment, VIP experience with private main stage viewing platforms and exclusive food and beverage offerings as well as an expanded Kids Zone, this year’s festival is a must see. A Taste of Colorado has something for everyone with over 50 food vendors, 175 marketplace vendors, a Kids Zone experience with arts, crafts & a children’s entertainment stage and the elevated music experience with a larger main stage featuring over 25 national and regional musical acts.

Boulder Creek Hometown Festival

When: September 1st – 3rd
Where: Central Park and Downtown Boulder

The Boulder Creek Hometown Festival closes out the event season over Labor Day weekend. Featuring arts & crafts exhibitors in Central Park, live performances at the Bandshell, a food court & beer garden, the Hometown Fest 5K, the LETR StarLite Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, the Rocky Mountain Beer Festival, and much more, it’s a great time to come out and be a part of this milestone year at Hometown Fest!

Labor Day Half Marathon

When: September 3rd
Where: Salisbury Park, Parker

Celebrate the last blast of summer at the Labor Day Half Marathon. Sweat your socks off and let summer have its last hoorah. The race travels along the scenic banks of the Cherry Creek. This flat and fast course just might propel you to a new personal record! And if you’re in it just for the fun, well, we totally catch your drift. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.

Denver Food + Wine Festival

When: September 4th – 9th
Where: Multiple Venues Across Denver

Denver Food + Wine Festival is a multi-day extravaganza of food, wine, and spirits. Festival events feature the best in Colorado’s restaurants paired with the finest wine and spirits, dinners, tastings and culminating with the festival’s signature event, The Grand Tasting. Through these series of events, Denver Food + Wine Festival aims to highlight the hospitality industry impact and celebrate Denver as a culinary destination.

Denver Art Museum Free First Saturdays

When: September 1st
Where: The Denver Art Museum

General admission is free on the first Saturday of the month! Explore fun things for families (including bilingual programs for the whole family), visit exhibitions throughout the museum, hear storytelling, and more! General admission does not include special ticketed exhibitions.

Colorado Rockies Vs. San Francisco Giants

When: September 3rd
Where: Coors Field

For many Colorado Rockies fans, it is the San Francisco Giants who are their biggest nemesis. Both these sides play in the West Division of the National League and that is the only thing that they have in common.
